Dacula, Georgia (PRWEB) October 31, 2013

Sports Challenge Network, LLC (SCN), a metro Atlanta-based technology company, has announced the release of its updated XBowling app, which targets the bowling industry.

Bowling is the largest recreational sport in the world with over 130 million annual participants globally. In the US alone, 70 million people bowl at least once a year, 10 million bowl at least once a month, and 7 million games are bowled each day.

SCN took the bowling industry by storm when it was the first in the industry to release a mobile challenge platform with automated scoring in the beginning of 2012. The fully redesigned app, available for free in Apple and Google app stores, is the most comprehensive bowling and general recreational sports offering in the market. The new app has a new user interface, greatly optimized user experience, and redesigned cloud architecture to record millions of ball throws simultaneously. Players will find it easy to navigate and will be able to quickly locate game information, credit and point balances, leader board status, user statistics, live bowling scores across all XBowling-enabled centers, and industry news.

With real time integration with scoring systems in over 270 bowling centers in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, XBowling offers bowlers multiple opportunities to compete against themselves and each other independent of location and time bowled. With XBowlings call to action, Bowl. Have Fun. Win Prizes., players can enter a variety of Challenges such as XBowl Mania, Lotto Bowl, or Beat Your Average as well as challenge one or many players to a Head to Head competition. Winners get SCN Reward Points which are redeemable for great merchandise and sports gear quickly and easily through the app itself.

Sports Challenge Network founder and CEO Tim Minard, an entrepreneur and technology industry veteran, was looking into the confluence of recreational sports and technology while on the prowl for new business ideas when he hit upon bowling.

I was amazed to see a sport thats been around for so long but didnt have any major innovations to drive growth, he said. The question was how to add value and increase participation in the sport utilizing technology. The answer to use mobile technology, smart devices, loyalty and reward programs, and social network integration to energize the game for both serious league bowlers and recreational players.

While bowling remains its priority, SCN is looking into other recreational sports such as golf, tennis, and fishing where physical activity can be combined with technology to increase participation and add value.
